"We'll order now what we ordered then."

We’ve always been old fashioned at Wickwood. Our lilac topiaries are about to bloom, the herb garden has been planted, the fraise de bois are in bud and the heirloom David Austin roses will bloom in June along with our blue Hydrangeas, foxglove, clematis, and iris.

In the kitchen we’re making batch after batch of Big Pecan Sticky Buns, Mom Miller’s Rhubarb Streusel Cake along with our new, but classic Greek Cheese Torte with Fruit, Nut and Madeira Chutney. Please indulge!

We’ve all changed our tunes. Life is no longer about stashing things; it’s about stashing memories. It’s all about taking time to enjoy those we love and doing just what we want.
“Toss out your white suit, your tap shoes and tails. Let’s go backward when forward fails.”

We'll provide the beach chairs!

Lecture

May 14, 7 pm, Lights, Camera, Action! Michigan's Starring Role in the Film Industry, Deborah Havens, presenter Michigan is wooing the nation's film industry - is it working? A conversation about making movies in Michigan and which Hollywood stars may be spotted in the region this summer.

Main Stage at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts

May 2, 8 pm, Jennie DeVoe Band DeVoe returns to the SCA for another high energy, funky pop-rock performance. Her voice – a delicious mix of scratchy blues and sweet low notes (think Bonnie Raitt fused with Tina Turner) – brings her unique blend of folk-funk-rock music to life.

May 23, The Wonder Bread Years, 8 pm Kick off your Memorial Day weekend with this fresh slice of hilarious baby-boomer Americana! Former Seinfeld writer Pat Hazell will have you roaring with witty conversations about our collective youth: sugar-coated cereals, lawn darts, Jiffy Pop popcorn, and those long distance trips to "way back" of the Country Squire station wagon.

May 24, Hot Club of Detroit, 8 pm Experience the sexy, infectious rhythms of “Gypsy Jazz” with this five-time Detroit Music Award winning group and live swing dancers! The swinging sound originated in the night clubs of Paris but now the music pulses in clubs from Tokyo to San Francisco to Madrid.

June 8, Marcia Ball, 8 pm Last spring 4-time Grammy-nominee Marcia Ball brought down the house at the SCA --- now she’s back! Ball knows how to raise roofs and tear down walls with her infectious, intelligent, and deeply emotional brand of southern boogie, rollicking, roadhouse blues and heartfelt ballads.
